As far as powers go, the Alliance Leader is kind of like a Guild Leader where the other guilds in the alliance are the members. The Alliance Leader is the only one that can invite/kick other guilds from the alliance. They can also designate another guild as Alliance Leader. There's no "Officers/Members" designation, though; guilds are counted as members in the alliance.
Now, about responsibilities, well, that's a pretty arbitrary topic. With the exception of inviting/kicking guilds, there really isn't much to manage as most guilds are pretty good about managing themselves. The officers might be in charge of keeping the peace, or maybe organizing Alliance Events and such, but otherwise there isn't much to do. |

Pretty sure you can't transfer leadership to another guild. Other than that, it's pretty accurate. Alliance leaders basically don't do very much unless they want to...

A good alliance leader will try to bring the members of every guild togeather using activities and events and hopefully keep the alliance itself active. Unfortunately most alliances are simply " gaming hubs " and well quite honestly there is PUGS for that

as an alliance leader im actually pretty busy
IN GAME: I interview possible new recruits and possible new allies. I talk to them for a while to make sure they will fit in so the guild/alliance stay running smoothly. I help other whenever possible. I get events going. Give away my own stuff and money for events. Keep the peace. IN FORUMS: I recruit for my guild and sometimes for my allies. I recruit new allied guilds I run the forums and website to make sure that it is up to date. Hunt around for new GW info/builds/events/etc. Solve any problems and make sure things are running smooth. Come up with events and set up schedules. Make sure our VOIP is taken care of. Make our forums/website is a fun place to hang out at not just boring forums. http://z4.invisionfree.com/EYE/index.php? http://www1.freewebs.com/defendersofthenorth/ in the website ive even created a section with all my allies forums and contact info, i make sure we're a tight bunch not just a group of guilds that share the same in game chat. since ive started this guild/alliance ive been having the most fun ive ever had in GW. So i highly suggest a GL and AL that is very active in and out of the game. |

That's how it should be done. I'm the Alliance coordinator for our guild and we're the leaders of our alliance as well. We've had the opportunity of organizing alliance events w/eachother, like the PvE guilds in the alliance will play dodgeball events w/lightning orb like the dragon arena. The rest of us that are all PvP guilds get together and run dodgeball GvG. Pretty much have 2 captains of 16 random alliance members and both squads run the same exact build off of one team builder. Right now we're even tossin' down a 4on4 tourney and even ran an alliance online chess tourney that someone got paid out for 25 bucks at amazon > We try to keep everyone entertained w/eachother and if a guild is struggling all the guilds in the alliance kind of pitch in to fill in gaps where needed until that team can pick themselves back up again.
You really have to have that communication out there with your team mates. If you feel as though there is room for improvement or if someone is hurting as a team, as long as it's spoken out loud someone around usually can step in and give you some assistance and not be a prick and just let the team fall to the wayside. Really all in all, it's every guilds alliance all you really need is maybe 1 or 2 ppl w/in that alliance to step up every so often to organize something to pretty much say hey, this is why we're here as an alliance, to interact as a full unit, not just use eachother for guests and dispose of you when we have the spot to fill w/a guildie. I think that has been lost w/most guilds that aren't matured or a few years old. |

I haven't led a guild or alliance in GW, but I do have a lot of experience from Ultima Online (including being in charge of guild acceptance into a community), so based on that and things that annoy me about the alliance I'm currently in in GW, the responsibilities of an Alliance leader are to:
1. Ensure that they're aware of any issues in the member guilds and resolve them to prevent the alliance being harmed. 2. Communicate clearly with the leaders of the alliance guilds 3. Vet potential alliance members to make sure that their guild culture isn't going to clash badly with the exisiting alliance - where a guild has potential you should try to work with them to resolve issues. These also apply to being a guild leader in general, but on a smaller scale. As for other duties - if your guild activity is low, you need to arrange things for the guild to do. And the thing to remember is that if you say, "We're going to be doing X" is that you're there even if no-one else is. If the leader can't be bothered, no-one else will be. Apathy is contagious. Fortunately, so is enthusiasm. One of the issues you'll have with resolving problems is that many people would rather seethe quietly and cause drama when they finally boil over rather than talk to you or an officer when the issues start. |

The alliance leader can
1) Invite guilds to the alliance 2) Kick guilds from the alliance Thats all the power ANET gave them.. But they have responsibilities as the leader of the alliance 1) Take care of the other members in the alliance, keep them happy. 2) Communicate with the guild leaders/members/officers keep them hiped up. Ect. Do whatever you wanna do as an alliance member |

What an alliance leader does varies from alliance to alliance, in some of the 'mega' guilds, it's the actual guild leader. In smaller alliances, it will be the most active guild, but the leader still wont do a whole lot. In some alliances, they are evil dictators.

Invite guilds to alliance. That's the duty of an alliance leader.
